Get Started!

So you know what MUN is, but now you want to know what you can do to prepare for our debates.

The truth is that there is no need to fully understand how MUN works from the get-go. We recommend you simply come by in one of our weekly sessions to get an impression of how we operate and then learn from there.

Should you, however, still want to prepare, you can find helpful resources below.

Join a weekly session

Weekly sessions are the basis of the MUN Team UZH. You can find us debating every Wednesday during the semester in KO2-F-175 from 19:00 - 20:45.
We are always happy to meet new people and we hope to see you there soon!

Typical steps before the first weekly session of a topic block

Read the Study GuideBefore every topic block, the Head of Operations will organise the Chairs, the topic and the committee. The chairs will then write a study guide that allows delegates to get an introduction to the topic at hand and outlines the key questions the committee needs to answer.

Consult the Rules of Procedure

There is a specific way MUN sessions are structured and a certain vocabulary that goes with it. If you’re curious about that feel free to have a look at our Rules of Procedure. Note, however, that it is in no way expected of you to know all the rules. You will get the hang of things with time and can always look up details if necessary.
